“ Sassenach ” is a term that reflects Claire’s status as a foreigner in the Highlands, but over time it becomes an affectionate and intimate nickname.
For Jamie, " Sassenach" represents Claire's uniqueness, her strangeness in relation to her world, but also her strength and independence which make her special.
